The role of X-rays

The role of X-rays:
1. Penetration. Because of its short wavelength and high energy, X-ray shows a strong penetrating ability, only part of which is absorbed by the substance when it shines on it, and most of which passes through the gap between atoms, and x-ray machine is made according to this principle.
2. Ionization.When a substance is irradiated by X - rays, it can dissociate electrons from their atomic orbitals.The amount of ionized charge can be used to measure the exposure of X ray, and X ray measuring instrument is made according to this principle.
3. Fluorescence.X-ray wavelength is very short and invisible, but it irradiates some compounds such as phosphorus, platinum barium cyanide, zinc cadmium sulfide, calcium tungstate, etc., can make the material fluorescence (visible light or ultraviolet light), the intensity of fluorescence is proportional to the amount of X-ray, and X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometer is made according to this principle.
